Overview

You will work on a wide range of IT systems and software suitable for the organizational and job role requirements. Learning how to providing support and assistance, develop, test and implement solutions to improve productivity will give you wor kbased skills needed for a successful career. You will also gain skills in social media and information exchange.

Entry Requirements
Apprenticeship Level 2 You will need 2 GCSE grades C or above in English and maths. You will also have to be employed within the industry.

Course Duration
12 to 14 months.

Skills and Benefits
The course combines paid employed work experience with time out of your job to gain career-focussed training at college. This framework provides you with the competence, skills and knowledge to work effectively and efficiently with I.T systems. This includes the creation and amendment of many types of formatted information including documents, diagrams, spreadsheets and presentations. It also includes maintaining simple websites. As well as thi,s part of your apprenticeship role may include office/ business administration, accounts, publishing and multimedia, sales and marketing and education and training. This framework reflects new reality in the work place by concentrating on the application of IT to solve problems and increase productivity.The course is made up of 10 mandatory units and a wide range of optional units which must complete the 53 credits needed to achieve the qualification.

Mandatory Units
Mandatory knowledge units this includes: Understanding the potential of I.T – 8 credits. Developing personal and team effectiveness using I.T – 2 credits out of 4 are assessed through knowledge test. The remaining mandatory units (4 credits) and a wide range of optional units (minimum 22 credits) are competence – based units.

Optional Units
There are no optional units on this qualification.

Course Assessment
Through a portfolio of evidence and observations in the workplace, and in some cases there are timed written assessments. You will work towards an NVQ, Technical Certificates and Functional Skills where appropriate. You will also be expected to complete the Employer Rights and Responsibilities framework.
