Course programme
In Year 1, the course focuses on developing transferable employment skills in a variety of business and IT work related scenarios.
The units studied include Communications, E-commerce and Computer Games Design. You will need 6 units to achieve the Subsidiary Diploma. Learners also have the opportunity to get Microsoft IT Academy certification in Access and Excel.
To apply for this course, you need:
- At least four GCSEs at grade A-C, including science, English and Maths, or
- DIDA (4 GCSE Edexcel equivalent), or
- relevant work experience, or
- BTEC Diploma with a Merit or Distinction.
- You must have very good communication skills.
Assessment is based on the portfolio of work you produce in completing each of the study modules.
Most students progress to a second year of study to do either the Diploma in IT. The Subsidiary Diploma is equivalent to 1 A Levels (up to 140 UCAS points. Some students go immediately into employment.
