About this course
Five GCSEs at grade C or above, or an equivalent qualification such as the Diploma in Digital Applications. These requirements can be relaxed in certain circumstances.
Just as important as your formal qualifications, is your enthusiasm for IT. You must be willing to develop a good all round knowledge of IT, and this includes the ability to prepare accurate reports on your research and work.

The Programme
BTEC National Diplomas develop the sort of practical and theoretical skills you will need to be a successful IT professional. They are aimed at students who are committed to a career in IT. This is a full time programme, requiring two years commitment.
You will learn various aspects of computing eg IT in Business, web design and programming. Much of the course will be practical but you will be assessed through assignments and a project. There are no examinations on National Diplomas.

Progression / Careers
You may use your diploma either to begin a career in IT or for further study.
Career paths include IT Management, Web Development, Database Administrator, Network Support, Programming, Games Program Design.
If you go on to study for a degree, Foundation Degrees in Computing or Business Computing are available at North Devon College. These count as two years of a three year degree.
Universities offer a range of degrees eg ICT in Business, Computer Science, Games Programming and Web Design.
