These courses will enable you to use integrated language skills to meaningfully address authentic texts as well as contemporary issues at advanced level. You will be prepared for unit 1 (Listening), unit 2 (Reading and Writing) and unit 3 (Oral).
Assessment is by written and oral examination. Particular emphasis is laid on methods of communication to enhance reading, listening, writing and oral skills. Use is made of videos and audio tapes. Tutorials are part of the course. You are expected to spend about 5 hours on homework and individual study per week.
What background and qualifications do you need to join?
Suitable for you if you have gained an A grade in your GCSE or have reached near fluency in the language by other means. The Advanced Supplementary (AS) is taken in one year.
What does the course lead to?
AS language courses can lead to the A level.
What are the facilities and equipment like?
Students will be able to use our Skills Centres, with plenty of visual research material, including books, slides, journals, CD ROMS and Internet access.
How much should I study outside class?
Tutorials are part of the course. You are expected to spend about 5 hours on homework and individual study per week.
How is the course assessed?
Mock exams in all the four skills are held throughout the course in preparation for the final exams.

What books and equipment do I need?
Students should not purchase a book until the language test/interview before the start of the course. After the interview the tutor will advise the students on which book and material to get.
What else do I need to buy? / What extra costs are there?
Students will be asked to buy an Italian Text book with the accompanying CD
