Course programme

Course Description
These courses are practical and cover the skills of speaking along with an introduction to business language. Teaching methods include formal instruction, pair and group work, role-plays, games, discussions and tutorials. Video and audio tapes are also used.
At entry level the exam is mainly an assessment of oral skills in practical situations.

What background and qualifications do you need to join?
For you if you have no prior knowledge of the language but want to progress at a faster pace and gain an accreditation in your first year of language studies.


What does the course lead to?
Successful completion can lead to progression onto higher level OCR courses or GCSE Foundation as appropriate. Your tutor will help you identify a suitable progression route.

What are the facilities and equipment like?
Students will be able to use our Skills Centres, with plenty of visual research material, including books, slides, journals, CD ROMS and Internet access.

How much should I study outside class?
A minimum of two hours home study is required each week.

How is the course assessed?
Mock assessments are held throughout the course in preparation for the final exams.

Are any course materials online?
Some course material will be taken from the relevant websites

What books and equipment do I need?
Students should not purchase a book until the language test/interview before the start of the course. After the interview the tutor will advise the students on which book and material to get.

What else do I need to buy? / What extra costs are there?
Students will be asked to buy a Japanese Text book with the accompanying CD
