Masterclass with Elspeth Lamb

Printing without a press - Japanese Woodblock Printing in the Ukiyo-e tradition

This masterclass is an introduction to Japanese Ukiyo-e prints and papermaking. Using traditional cutting knives, Japanese inking brushes and barens (printing pads), and printing on to Japanese kozo paper, participants will produce prints in the Japanese woodblock tradition, using beautiful watercolour paints and dyes. Based in Glasgow, Elspeth Lamb is one of Scotland's most accomplished printmakers. She is an acknowledged authority on printmaking and papermaking
and her book Papermaking for Printmakers was published
by A&C Black in 2006.
