The aim of the course is to build and expand on existing techniques and processes previously learnt. Throughout the course ‘new’ skills will be taught and learnt which you will be able to put into practice enabling you to produce a finished piece reflective of your ability.
You have the opportunity to bring your own projects into the studio to work on with the guidance of our professional tutors.

It is advisable that students keep a technical notebook to record personal findings and samples.

As you will be working in a workshop environment it is important that you dress appropriately. As part of the Health and Safety regulations you must ensure that you wear ‘closed toe’ shoes – no sandals.

What is the entry process?

Completion of a beginner’s course - able to demonstrate basic skills; soldering, saw-piercing and filing

What else do I need to know?

Basic equipment including hands tools are provided along with base metals (copper and brass etc) for samples/test pieces only. Base metals for finished pieces can be purchased from your tutor.

Precious metals (silver and gold) are purchased by the individual. You will be advised throughout the course of relevant suppliers for both metals and equipment.

Note: you are advised not to purchase any materials until course viability is confirmed.
