This qualification is for individuals who are working within the electrotechnical industry and are unable to obtain JIB grading as they have not achieved the NVQ 3. This qualification will enable you to apply for the JIB Gold Card

About this course

To enable individuals to apply for JIB Grading through the ECS system for the JIB Gold Card as an electrician or Approved Electrician

To achieve this qualification, individuals must provide evidence of length of experience in the sector and submit a portfolio of evidence of the type of work completed. All Candidates must also achieve the AM2 Trade Test

This is a restricted qualification under licence by the JIB

Candidates must successfully complete 8 units PLUS the AM2 to achieve this qualification.

Evidence must be provided on AT LEAST two separate occasions for each unit

Unit 1 - Health & Safety
Unit 2 - Providing technical and functional information
Unit 4 - Health & Safety
Unit 11 - Fault Diagnosis and Rectification
Unit 12 - Prepare to Install electrical systems
Unit 13 - Install electrical systems
Unit 14 - Connect electrical systems
Unit 15 - Inspect and Test Electrical Systems


The AM2 Trade Test is a 3 day practical examination consisting of:

Risk Assessment
Safe Isolation
Electrical Installation
Inspection, Testing and Certification
Fault Diagnosis


The AM2 is also used as evidence towards the NVQ 3

Additional information

1 Hour evening, weekend or online tutorials to build a portfolio (appointment based).
