About this course
2 A levels plus 5 GCSEs (A-C), or equivalent qualifications, or relevant professional experience/experiential learning, or a combination of formal qualifications and experiential learning. We would expect to see copies of academic essays/assignments produced on other courses to establish the candidate's ability to write English for academic purposes.

Content
This degree course has strong links with television and radio, national newspapers, local newspaper groups and magazine publishers.
In the final year you will take on various professional roles such as editor, subeditor or writer when you work 9.00am to 5.00pm in our digital newsroom. This unique feature of the course puts your first two years of training in newspaper and magazine reporting and feature writing into practice in both print and online.
During the course you will undertake an industrial attachment in order to experience professional media practice in the workplace. You will also benefit from a guest lecture programme of visiting leading professionals including senior television producers and national newspaper and magazine editors.
Structure
You will be taught by experienced practising newspaper, television, radio and magazine journalists and also by specialists in such fields as:
- News reporting, features, design and layout.
- Online journalism, video for online.
- Contexual studies: the role of the Press in society.
- Media law.
- Tee-line.
- Personal and Professional Development.

Comments: This course is taught within the Faculty of Media.
Career opportunities: Most students will progress into jobs in journalism (print, broadcast or in new media).
