The focus will be on academic writing skills and numeracy, plus subject-specific content to fully prepare you for entry to an Undergraduate degree. Who’s this course for? The BA (Hons) Child and Adolescent Studies is primarily designed for students who have some experience of and/or an interest in working within the children and adolescent sectors.

Skills and experience gained Student learning, which consists of a range of experiences including the acquisition of knowledge, understanding, skills and competence, requires many forms of assessment, and details relevant to the learning outcomes of units are provided in the individual unit handbooks. Nevertheless, the strategy recognizes that most forms of assessment will serve several purposes and may combine the assessment of differing learning outcomes. Thus a variety of assessment types are used to meet the learning outcomes of individual units. The course also sets clear standards of achievement. Designed to inform students and increase your confidence in assessment, these standards will be reflected in students ability to evaluate their own performance. Aims of the BA Child and Adolescent Studies: To provide subject-specific knowledge and skills that prepares students for a career in the field of children and young people, to promote the acquisition of key transferable skills that enhance the employability of child and adolescent studies graduates within a flexible labour market, to enable students to gain an appreciation of and familiarity with research skills and methods to a level where they can successfully complete an independent project, to foster a commitment amongst students of the nature of discrimination, oppression and inequality in services for children, adolescents, young people and their families and of measures to combat their effects.
