Access courses are designed as a stepping stone to enable motivated, enthusiastic people to progress on to Higher Education. This is ideal for those who want to re-train or re-direct their lives into Land Based careers or who want to take a degree in Land Management related subjects. There is a very high level of academic and personal support throughout the course, which can help if you need to combine study with part-time employment and family commitments.

Course programme
All applicants will be invited to attend an Access Workshop where full course information is given and you will be expected to complete the Initial Assessment and a written exercise. You will also be given a questionnaire which needs to be returned before interview which covers your past employment, previous experiences etc that will help us give you the right advice and guidance.
You will then be invited in on a separate date for a one to one interview for approximately 1/2 hour.
You will study the following modules: Basic Biology, Scientific Project - Design & Implementation, Scientific Project - Analysis & Presentation, and Scientific Contemporary Issues. As well as a selection of Animal Management, Animal Behaviour, Plant Biology & Nutrient Cycling, Ecology, Managing Natural Environments, Training Principals. You will also need to study core modules, eg, Study Skills, English and Maths GCSE (if required).
You will be assessed using a wide range of methods including project work, coursework, academic essays, reports and presentations.
