Legislation

The aim of this course is to provide an update to some areas of housing and related legislation, to ensure that you have knowledge and understanding of the law relating to tenant's rights, obligations and responsibilities with regard to breaches of tenancy.

By the end of the day Learners will have had the opportunity to:

  • Be aware of the relationship between Common Law, Statute/Legislation and Tenancy Agreements (Contracts with tenants).
  • Understand the rights, obligations and responsibilities of landlords and tenants since the various Acts of 1985, 1988, 1998, 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2008 e.g. succession and ASB.
  • Have considered how best to deal with some breaches of tenancy and to link with courses that follow as part of the whole programme.
