About this course

The Bartlett School of Architecture is recognised as one of the world's leading schools of architecture and graduates from our Master's programmes are highly sought after.

You will need a strong design portfolio and either a first or second-class Landscape Institute accredited UK Bachelor's degree in landscape architecture or similar, or an overseas qualification of an equivalent standard. Candidates who hold another qualification obtained by examination and approved by UCL together with at least three years of appropriate professional experience may also be considered.

The programme has secured Landscape Institute (LI) Candidate Accreditation status and is progressing to apply for full LI Accreditation status upon graduation of the first cohort

Course programme

You will gain an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the discipline of landscape architecture and the related profession, informed by current practice, scholarship and research. With design-led teaching and learning, you will learn how to design, using a range of techniques and research methods, equipping you to progress towards a career as a landscape architect.

This is a one year, 180-credit Master's degree.

This programme has five modules, all of which are mandatory.

A Postgraduate Diploma (120 credits) is also offered.

A Postgraduate Certificate (60 credits) is also offered.

The programme has a strong design research focus, with a major design studio project and research project complementing each other and giving students the platform to develop impressive portfolios upon graduation.

Teaching and learning

All assessed works are forms of coursework. These include design portfolios, essays, illustrated reports and diaries. You will receive formative feedback on their work in progress via tutorials and seminars, as well as written reports.

Fieldwork

There is one field trip (optional) annually as part of the programme.
