Language And/With Journalism (French, German, Italian, Japanese, Spanish) With Foundation Year (Ba): 6-Year, Part-Time

Our BA Language and/with Journalism with Foundation Year combines the study of a modern language with development of journalistic skills relevant to a wide range of professional contexts. Not only will you become highly competent in your chosen language but you will also gain advanced knowledge of the cultures and societies of the countries in which the language is spoken. The journalism modules are taught by industry professionals with experience not only in how to write for different media and audiences, but also in how the industry works. By the end of the programme you will have developed high-level journalistic skills, and an understanding of the cultural, political and industrial contexts of journalism.

You will also have the opportunity to study a number of cross-cultural modules which will allow you to explore specific themes across a variety of language-speaking areas.

Before proceeding to the main degree, you will spend your Foundation Year preparing yourself for a degree in the arts by improving your study and research skills and gaining arts-related knowledge and understanding. You will also have the opportunity to take a language module as part of the Foundation Year.

Our part-time Foundation Year degrees allow you to spread out your Foundation Year studies over two years. As the 'Foundation Year' is made up of 120 credits, as a part-time student you can take 60 credits in each of your first and second years before starting the main four-year BA Language and/with Journalism.
