About this course
Standard entry to this course requires one reference. It is desirable that you can demonstrate 90% attendance. Five GCSEs at grade 4 (C) or above, to include English and maths is required. These entry requirements are there to ensure that you are completely focused on the course and its demands, rather than having to resit GCSEs.
Consideration will be given to all applicants over the age of 19, who do not hold formal English and maths qualifications.

Course programme
Year 1
You will study SIX law units over the two years of the programme, 3 in each year. The law units are:
Unit 1 Introduction to Law and the Legal System in England and Wales
Unit 2 – Practical Legal Skills
Unit 3 – Law of Contract
Unit 4 – Tort Law
Unit 5 – Law of Crime
Unit 6 – Land and Property Law
In addition you will then study 12 Business Units over the two years. Some of these units will include, Business Environment, Business Resources, Marketing, Communication in Business, Teambuilding and Managing a Business Event.
Work Experience will very much be part of the programme and the opportunity to be placed in law firms and complete your work experience with them is integral to the development of your skills in the legal field.
In year two of the programme you will complete your three law units and your 6 Business Units. The law units are set as above, but the business units which you study will be agreed upon with you during the end of year one. There are many options to choose from including law units, recruitment and selection, IT skills, retail skills as well as finance and accounting.
In addition your study programme will continue to have work experience and also opportunities to become involved in enterprise activities which will improve your skills in communication, networking and self assurance all of which will make you more employable.
