Legal norms govern coexistence within a society, business competition, and provide us all with security. The Diploma degree program in Law offered at the JKU provides comprehensive education to understand legal issues that arise as part of a modern social structure, teaches students how to critically reflect on these issues, interpret legal regulations by learning academic methods, as well as make them a part of the system. After graduation, you will be able to master the many legal challenges we encounter resulting from a rapidly changing society – whether in corporate law, criminal law, European law or in another area of specialization within the law degree program.

About this course
The Diploma degree program in law has been designed to offer a broad, universal education in legal foundations and the law. The program focuses on :
Providing an interdisciplinary understanding of legal context, politics and business
Conveying and training various usable skills (debate, analysis, precise ways of thinking and expression, language skills)
Conveying the ability to independently handle legal issues and prepare legal analyzes in a structured way
Supporting a field of specialization and an individual area of focus
General higher education entrance qualifications (such as an Austrian "Matura" diploma)

Nach Abschluss des Studiums der Rechtswissenschaften kannst Du die Laufbahn der kernjuristischen Berufe Rechtsanwältin/Rechtsanwalt, RichterIn, NotarIn oder Staatsanwältin/Staatsanwalt einschlagen. Aufgrund der breiten universaljuristischen Ausbildung steht Dir auch eine Karriere in der Wirtschaft (z.B. als Unternehmens-juristIn, als SteuerberaterIn oder im Personalwesen), in der Politik, bei NGOs oder in der öffentlichen Verwaltung offen.

Proof of having completed at least 10 weekly semester hours in "Latin"; Students who have not had Latin at secondary school must pass a supplementary examination.
