Course programme
The Sheffield LLB allows you to specialise in your final year, by choosing from a wide list of options.
In your first two years you cover the foundational subjects of law and progressively enhance your knowledge of the doctrines and principles of the Common Law. From the start you learn about the wider, regional and international context in which the Common Law now operates and with which it interacts.
To add to your developing intellectual skills, our teaching methods at Sheffield also emphasise the ability to communicate your knowledge with facility and to be fully engaged in the application and impact of information technology in the law. From the very beginning we will be teaching you how to study effectively in the university environment. You´re taught how to access information on-line, how to research effectively and how to use the information you have found. When you know how to do this, you´ll find course notes and lectures and reading lists on our e-learning/e-resources systems which you will be able to access from in the Law School itself, in the Halls of Residence or from anywhere you are able to use an Internet connection
As well as continuing your studies of the foundational legal modules, the second year of the programme introduces you to a range of theoretical perspectives of law, deriving from philosophy, sociology and criminology.
Programme Structure
The LLB Law programme is split across 2 semesters, studying compulsory modules in your first and second years of study allowing you to choose your modules you wish to study in your third year.
