About this course

Entry criteria Generally you should have a good honours degree in any subject other than law or a non - qualifying law degree. You need to prove to us that you meet the SRA’s requirements for admission to the GDL, and provide evidence for any exemptions that you may request from individual subjects. You need to do that before you start the GDL by providing any documentation we require. Course programme

The GDL begins with a two-week induction, introducing the principal features of the English legal system, developing legal research skills and demonstrating the role of information technology in the study of the law. You then study the seven prescribed foundation subjects: Criminal Law. Equity and the Law of Trusts. European Community Law. Property Law. Public Law. Law of Contract (Obligations I). Law of Tort (Obligations II). Project As stipulated by the SRA and BSB, you will be introduced to an additional area of legal study and are required to submit a longer piece of assessed written coursework relating to that area. If you successfully complete all of the GDL assessments at your first sitting, you will be guaranteed a place on our Legal Practice Course (LPC). Note: All modules are subject to change in order to keep content current.
