Our LLB Law with Criminology course will equip you with the skills and knowledge you need to proceed to professional legal qualifications as a solicitor or barrister and to engage critically with the principles of law. You will also gain an awareness of current issues in criminology – from debates surrounding criminal justice, to social control and the role of the police.
We blend traditional and modern teaching methods to help you gain an extensive understanding of the law and the legal system, allowing you to tackle the fundamental issues of fairness, justice and equality that are at the heart of every society.

This course combines the expertise of Surrey’s School of Law with the internationally-recognised research and teaching strengths of the Department of Sociology, offering you the chance to develop an understanding of the law and legal principles whilst also studying advanced areas of criminology.
We’re one of the UK's best universities for criminology, with our courses ranked 2nd in the Guardian University Guide 2020. We also achieved 100 per cent overall satisfaction for this course in the National Student Survey 2019.

The Professional Training placement year gives our students an insight into their subject and career potential, and early access to professional experience. It can be invaluable in developing work-based skills and helping them secure a graduate career.
Applicants taking an A-level science subject with the Science Practical Endorsement are required to pass the practical element.
Please note: A-level General Studies and A-level Critical Thinking are not accepted.
GCSE or equivalent: English Language at Grade C(4) and Mathematics at Grade C (4) (or equivalent).
LLB (Hons) - Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA)
The qualifying law degree is recognised by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) for the purposes of satisfying the academic stage of training.
