Are you interested in learning about chemistry? Would you like to improve upon your knowledge in this area? This A Level Chemistry Course is ideal for anyone wishing to gain knowledge and understanding of this subject or for anyone who wishes to study at a higher level at University. You will also find this course extremely valuable if you are looking for further training whilst employed.
This course is comprised of 6 units and takes place over a period of 18 months. Students will begin by learning about the basic foundation of chemistry. Topics will include an introduction to organic chemistry, atomic structures, bonding, periodicity and alkanes.
From there, students will begin unit two, which is Chemistry in Action. In this unit, more dynamic elements of chemistry will be discussed such as energetics, kinetics and equilibria. There will also be an overview of the extraction of metals and the use of analytical techniques.
In the fourth and fifth units, students will build upon what they have learned about organic chemistry and will also study thermodynamics, transition metals and the reactions of inorganic compounds. The sixth and final unit is a more hands-on unit and will require that students demonstrate ethical and skillful technique in their practices and also that they display the ability to record measurements with precision and accuracy.

An understanding of How Science Works is a requirement. How Science Works is an underpinning set of concepts and is the means whereby students come to understand how scientists investigate scientific phenomena in their attempts to explain the world about us. Moreover, How Science Works recognises the contribution scientists have made to their own disciplines and to the wider world.
