Learn Latin (Beginners)

Programme outline

This eight week course is suitable for complete beginners or for those who want to refresh their knowledge of the basics of Latin.

Each session will include a teaching session on grammatical points; some written exercises; and an examination of some liturgical text in Latin to see where the grammar fits in, in context.

Students should be enabled to read simple Latin texts and to understand some of the liturgy in Latin.

Those wishing to take the subject further could begin to work towards a formal qualification in Latin.

N.B. The Text book to be used will be 'Latin Made Simple' by Rhoda Hendricks. It would be helpful if students could acquire their own copies - copies may be purchased via the Study Centre.
