The strategic management elements and management decision-making stood out for me. These helped further my understanding of management practice at both the micro and macro-level: and brought the theory to life with real examples.

-
The best part of the course was practicing skills that have been of great use to me in real life. Examples include setting up, operating and liquidating a company as part of the studying financial accounting, young enterprise project, employment law, PEST and SWOT analysis.

There are excellent opportunities here. I wanted to work in a different country and see variable ways of doing things. This MBA will add value to my previous experience.

My MBA network extends to Europe, Africa, Asia, North and South America, so, learning how to deal with cultural differences was a strong point of my experience at Leeds.

My research aims to identify factors that affect the employment choices of migrants. I'm looking at the British-Pakistani men in particular because almost 25% of British-Pakistani men in UK choose to drive taxis. There is also the debate about how free are people to choose their life options given the kind of ethnic backgrounds they are from, the gender, the class they belong to. So, it is a overarching question of structure and agency that I'm trying to answer through the case study of Pakistani men. In the first year you have to go through 3 modules. One is the philosophy behind the social science research. The second module that we do is one on research methods which is qualitative and quantitative. The third thing is we do a module called Understanding your Discipline and it's about understanding the different key readings in our discipline and critiquing them

I like to work in group projects because I always like collaborating with others. Nevertheless, I also think that the University of Leeds offers a wide range of activities and events such as fashion shows and balls. On the other hand, I have been able to make friends from a lot of countries.

The course specialised in the areas I was interested in, mostly mathematics and finance. I especially enjoyed the teaching and the combination of subjects on the course. I found the mathematics brush-up module pretty useful in the first semester. In general, the lecturers seemed very keen on giving us the best background.

It exceeded my expectations. You are always encouraged to apply your theoretical knowledge to real-world problems. This is actually helping me contribute to and cope with my current job. Also, the course was a mix of people of different personalities and backgrounds. It’s been great to know them as colleagues and friends.
