About the Level3 Award in Education and Training (C&G 6502) programme
The Level 3 Award in Education and Training is a knowledge-based introduction to teaching and/or training which has no teaching/training practice requirement. Therefore it may be undertaken by candidates who are not in a teaching role. It is NOT a teaching qualification - it is an introduction to teaching.
Candidates who successfully complete this qualification will have a fundamental understanding of the roles and responsibilities of a teacher/trainer in relation to legislation, equality, diversity, inclusivity and meeting the needs of learners. They will be able to sequence learning and plan and deliver sessions using appropriate resources and teaching methods. They will also be able to identify the characteristics of effective assessment and feedback.

Entry requirements
There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification, but applicants must be considering a subject for delivery and be aiming to achieve/or have achieved a qualification and/or have experience in their subject/skill at the appropriate level. In addition, the nature of both the learning and assessment required for the qualification is such that applicants should have the ability to manage the requirements of the level of the qualification they are taking, read and interpret written tasks, and write answers in a legible and understandable form; written information should be organised clearly and coherently. Applicants must be aged 19 or above.

The programme offers training in the skills of teaching and is structured in three key units delivered at level 3:

Understanding inclusive teaching and learning approaches in education and training.
Understanding assessment in education and training.

Learning & Teaching Methods
The course will run for 14 weeks for 3.5 hours per week. The classes will be held in the evenings from 5:30pm to 9:00pm one night per week.
Lessons will include workshops, seminars, peer observations, 1:1 tutorials, independent study, reflection, module assignments and a micro-teach.
