The programme includes: Two external exams based on Human Lifespan Development and Healthy Living. The Diploma in Health and Social Care consists of 2 Core units, 2 Mandatory units and 4 to 6 optional units from the following: Health and Social Care Values, Effective Communication in Health and Social Care, Social Influences on Health and Wellbeing, The Impact of Nutrition on Health and Wellbeing, Cultural Diversity in Health and Social Care, Individual Rights in Health and Social Care, Carrying Out a Vocationally – related Project.
You will have the opportunity to study GCSE maths or English providing you achieved a D grade at school. If you GCSE grade is lower than you will study Functional Skills Maths or English
Functional Skills are essential skills in English and Maths that enable everyone to deal with the practical problems and challenges of life – at home, in education and at work. They reinforce skills in communication, problem solving, listening and time management. Better functional skills can mean a better future – as students or as an employee and in everyday life.

Course programme
Upon successful completion of this programme you will achieve a BTEC Level 1/2 First Certificate in Health and Social Care graded at either a Pass, Merit, Distinction and Distinction *. You will need to achieve a Merit to progress to the Level 3 programme.
You will learn and be assessed by range of methods including projects, presentations, role play, assignments, displays, practical lessons. You will also complete two external exams.
