This qualification is aimed at people considering a career in the children and young peoples workforce.
You will study a variety of subjects over one year including:
• Growth and development
• Children's play
• Finding out about Forest Schools
• Healthy eating for families
• Listening and talking to young children
• Preparing your next steps
You will have the opportunity to gain experience working with children in an Early Years setting. The development of practical English and Maths skills will be an essential part of your programme. In addition, if you have not achieved a GCSE grade C or above in English and/or Maths (or new grading 4 or above for GCSE maths or English), you will study for a recognised qualification appropriate to your level e.g. GCSE or Functional Skills. IT will be embedded in the delivery of your specialist skills.
There will be a cost to students of £100 which includes a security check (DBS), course materials and kit. 19+ fees apply.

Course programme
If you achieve a Pass and satisfactory work experience reports you may progress to the NCFE CACHE Level 2 Diploma for the Early Years Practitioner or BTEC Level 2 Certificate in Health and Social Care.
You will need 2 GCSEs at grade 2 (E) or above, a general education plus a keen interest in working with children.
In addition to the entry qualifications listed, the offer of a place on the course is subject to the outcomes of initial assessment, which will be taken at the College as part of the admissions process. Please note that entry criteria may vary quite significantly between courses at the same level. This is to take account of the specific skills needed for success on particular courses, the length of the course and the requirements for progression to the next level. Entry criteria are given as a guide, and the exact requirements in order to obtain a place on a particular course will be confirmed following attendance at a Welcome Event/Interview.
