This highly practical course is an ideal starting point for those students with some practical experience of working with horses. Through working in the College yard, your understanding of horse care and welfare will be broadened and you will learn how to correctly handle and look after a variety of horses.

- Develop performance in land based industries
- Assist with feeding and watering animals
- Assist with the preparation of animal accommodation
- Assist with the preparation for exercise and aftercare of horses
- Maintain the health of horses
- A choice of either:
- Exercise horses under supervision
- Assist with the handling and restraint of horses
- Functional skills/GCSE - English and Maths
Short multiple choice examinations, plus a portfolio of evidence will be marked by an internal and external examiner.
