Course programme

Course Content

The course consists of a combination of units: 

  • Motor vehicle servicing and inspection.
  • Basic engineering skills.
  • Information technology.
  • Health and safety motor vehicle systems (engines, suspension, steering, transmission, electrical, etc.
  • Functional skills or GCSE in Maths and English at an appriate level

NOTE: As part of your programme of study, there is an expectation that you undertake a timetabled work placement or experience block of learning, this is designed to enable you to gain experience of the industry.


Method of Study

The course is split between formal classroom based study, practical workshop training and directed self-study including computer based learning packages.

Method of Assessment

Assessment will be by the completion of written knowledge assessments and assignments, alongside a portfolio of practical assessment evidence which will be assessed formally in the motor vehicle workshops.
