This programme has been designed to give you the opportunity to pick up some cores skills and knowledge that gives you the opportunity to progress onto the level 2 or an apprenticeship framework in plumbing services (6035) installation qualifications. With teaching and instruction from specialist staff you will gain an understanding of and a variety of practical skills which include:
• Plumbing installations
• Repair and maintenance of plumbing systems
• Above ground drainage
• Pipework (copper, plastic, low carbon steel)
• Plumbing science
• Structure of the construction industry
• Environmental and sustainability measures in domestic dwellings
• Site preparation in the construction industry
Health and safety is of paramount importance in all areas of the construction industry, and this will be reinforced throughout the course. Vocational core skills of English and Maths will be embedded in the programme along with specialist delivery to enable learners to reach GCSE grade 4 or equivalent standards to meet industry requirements.
In addition to the specialist skills described above, we will help you to develop a range of wider skills that will make you into a well-rounded professional who will be highly valued by employers. At CRC we call this package of skills the Passport to Success. Core skills, Employability, Personal Learning, Social and Community skills, together with your Specialist skills and qualification will give you a distinct advantage when it is time for you to progress to employment or further and higher education.

Course programme
Successful completion of all elements of this study programme will allow you to progress to a plumbing apprenticeship. Further full time training onto the L2 diploma in plumbing studies (6035)
To access this course, you will need 2 GCSEs at grade 2 (E ) or better, general education and a keen interest in plumbing installations.
In addition to the entry qualifications listed, the offer of a place on the course is subject to the outcomes of initial assessment, which will be taken at the College as part of the admissions process. Please note that entry criteria may vary quite significantly between courses at the same level. This is to take account of the specific skills needed for success on particular courses, the length of the course and the requirements for progression to the next level. Entry criteria are given as a guide, and the exact requirements in order to obtain a place on a particular course will be confirmed following attendance at a Welcome Event/Interview.
We want you to achieve to the very best of your ability at CRC. To make this happen we offer both learning and personal support by specialist staff tailored to meet your specific needs.
Learning takes place through a variety of theory and practical lessons. Students will also need to carry out personal research to enable them to successfully complete the course and guidance on this will be given by the course tutors.
Your skills and knowledge will be continuously assessed throughout the course; additionally each unit will be assessed by end multiple choice examinations and practical tests.
Support will be provided through regular meetings with your course tutor.
