Skills for Security/NOCN Level 2 Award in Door Supervision

In setting standards for training we have taken into account the changing roles of those already employed in the industry and the requirements for new skills and knowledge. The training includes conflict management and communication, which have been identified as basic skills needed by the industry.

To get the SIA qualification for door supervisors, you will need to attend a two part training course and take and pass two exams. The course is delivered over 4 days The total training time is 30 hours, which includes two hours of exams.

Training is delivered in two parts as follows:

• Part 1 - Role and Responsibilities of a Door Supervisor (14 hours)

• Part 2 - Communication Skills and Conflict Management (14 hours)

Course Content:

Part 1 - Roles and responsibilities of Door Supervisor:

Module 1: Introduction, Roles and Responsibilities.

Module 2: Behavioral Standards.

Module 3: Equal Opportunities.

Module 4: Civil and Criminal Law.

Module 5: Arrest.

Module 6: Licensing Law.

Module 7: Searching.

Module 8: Health and Safety at Work.

Module 9: Drugs Awareness.

Module 10: Recording Incidents.

Module 11: Emergency Procedures.

Part 2 - Communication and Conflict Management:

Avoiding Conflict

  • Defusing Conflict
  • Resolving Conflict
  • Learning from Conflict

Course Duration:

This Course is run over a period of 4 days focusing 2 days each on Part 1 and Part 2.

Documents Required:

Acceptable Proof of Identification as specified by the
Security Industry Authority (SIA)

Group A

* Signed UK photo driving licence
* Signed valid passport (any nationality)
* Signed UK paper driving licence
* Valid EU photo identity card
* Valid UK firearms licence
* Original birth certificate (issued within 12 months of birth)

Group B

* Non original Birth Certificate (issued later than 12 months after your date of birth)
* Marriage certificate
* P45 or P60 (issued in last 12 months)
* Bank or building society statement issued to current address (less than 3 months old).
* Mortgage statement (issued in last 12 months) or Insurance Policy at current address (less than 3 months old)
* Financial statement e.g. Pensions (issued in last 12 months)
* Utility bill from current address e.g. Gas/Electric/Telephone - inc mobile phone contract (less than 3 months old), (Multiple bills are accepted if from different service providers).
* British work permit or Visa (issued in last 12 months).
* Certificate of British Nationality
* Addressed Payslip (less than 3 months old)
* Credit card statement from current address (less than 3 months old)
* Court summons (issued in last 12 months).
* Child benefit book ( issued in last 12 months)
* Letter from the Inland Revenue/ DWP/ Employment Service or local authority
* Any other document to prove current address e.g. an addressed payslip (less than 3 months old), vehicle registration document, NHS Card/exam certificate

Candidates should provide either:

3 from Group A

1 from Group A and 2 from Group B

5 from Group B
