Course Content

Hopwood Hall College in partnership with Manchester City Football Club, City in the Community is offering a new Level 3 BTEC Extended Diploma in Sport and Football qualification over 2 years (equivalent to 3 A-Levels). The course will be delivered at the Etihad stadium in their state-of-the-art teaching and training facilities and you will play in the BCS ECFA League.



This course has been developed to meet the expanding employment opportunities within the sports industry including: health and fitness facilities, coaching/teaching, professional sport and performance.



Topics on this course include:




• Anatomy and physiology


• Principles of anatomy and physiology in sport


• Sports coaching


• Practical team sports


• Sports nutrition


• Psychology for sports performance


• Fitness training and programming


• Sport as a business


• Sports and exercise massage


• Anatomy and physiology for sport


• Injury in sport



Interviews will be held on 14th August 2014 from 10am at the Etihad Stadium.



Trials will be held on 21st August 2014 from 10am at Hopwood Hall College (after a successful interview).



Please come prepared in full training kit,

Entry Requirements

16-18 with a minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade C or above which must include?English and Mathematics and a keen interest in football training and coaching.

Possible Progression

Higher Education, Foundation Degree in Sports Coaching at Hopwood Hall?College or employment.
