The Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills is the first compulsory qualification on CPCAB’s progression route to becoming a counsellor. This course is aimed at learners with significant life experience with or without previous counselling skills training. It aims to provide a comprehensive introduction to counselling as a vocation through the learning and development of counselling skills, basic counselling theory and ethical issues involved within this field of work.
The course would be of particular interest to those who intend to enhance their work role by acquiring proficiency across a range of counselling skills and also to those who want to progress to practitioner level in counselling and who consider skills acquisition and practice as a sound basis for starting their training. This award DOES NOT provide the learner with a professional qualification or entitle its holder to practice counselling professionally.
No formal entry requirements however learners must have the ability to produce weekly written reflective journals (word processed work) and take part in practical skills assessment activities and an end of year written test.
