Who is this course for?
The course will provide qualifications, skills and experience to be able to progress to level 3 Art and Design, Graphic Design, Fashion, Photography, Concept Design for Games, apprenticeships in Design, Creative and Digital Media, Jewellery, Fashion or Social Media.This qualification provides an opportunity to explore develop and test creative ideas in practice, by exploring a broad range of materials and processes including traditional and digital approaches. The course develops skills and knowledge in specialist areas of art and design including two and three dimensional design, processes and techniques, painting and drawing, graphics, digital imaging, and textiles.
Students will produce a portfolio of work completed over the duration of the course and exhibit work in an exhibition at the end of the year. The course develops awareness of the design industry by including workshops by visiting practitioners and undertaking live projects and competition work.
What other experience will I gain?
You will learn from experienced and specialist art and design tutors who will be able to offer advice and support in terms of your studies and future goals. This is supported by demonstrations, workshops and activities provided by visiting practitioners from the sector. Classes are delivered in well-resourced studios specialist workshops and access to laptops and computer suites with specialist software. The Qualification Content enables learners to undertake studies in specialist areas of art and design such as Design Crafts, Fashion and Textiles, Photography, Product Design, Visual Arts and Visual Communication. Your course also includes GCSE or Functional Skills in English and or Mathematics ( unless you have already gained a grade C or above in these qualifications). Possessing these skills will help you to progress in education, training and employment and make a positive contribution in the community in which you live and work.
