Course programme

Course Content

You will study 8 units which give you practical experience of Art & Design techniques which culminate in the production of a progress portfolio of work that will support your application to Level 3 or into the world of work. The first 7 units of the course are graded Pass or Refer only.

At the end of the year, you will tackle a graded project which will set the overall grade for your whole year. This final unit can be taken at level 2 or at level 3 and we would expect anyone wishing to progress to level 3 takes the level 3 final unit. To progress to level 3, you must achieve an overall Merit grade for the course.

We endeavour to have live projects which enrich the course and we have good partnerships with galleries and exhibitors so that you can get your work into the public arena.

Method of Study

This is a full time course, normally delivered over 4 days per week where possible. In addition you will study GCSE English and Maths.
