This course is designed to provide you with valuable training in facial work including cleansing, skin analysis, exfoliation, facial massage, masks, and waxing.  You will also study manicure and pedicure, techniques for lash and brow treatments and make-up. The programme offers an excellent opportunity to build up beauty qualifications on a part-time basis and is suitable for people currently working in the beauty industry, who have no formal qualifications. It is also an invaluable extra qualification for hairdressers wanting to extend the range of services they offer. There will be extra training opportunities during the course which will have an additional cost attached e.g. PhD waxing, ear piercing and tanning.

There will be a kit fee of approximately £290, a uniform costing approximately £49.  If you are entitled to concessions, you will not be required to pay tuition fees but YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO PAY A REGISTRATION FEE, MATERIALS FEE AND EXAM REGISTRATION/ENTRY FEE IN ADDITION TO THE KIT/UNIFORM COSTS LISTED  - PLEASE BE AWARE THAT THIS INFORMATION IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE. There will be extra training opportunities during the course which will have an additional cost attached - these are optional. The course is 18 weeks in length.

Course programme

This course opens up career opportunities for employment as a beauty consultant or a beauty therapist in a salon or working for yourself. There are other programmes available at this College that you may wish to study to enhance your qualifications e.g. Level 3 Diploma in Beauty Therapy or any of the holistic part time courses. Please ask your tutor for further information.

This course is for mature people who are over 19 and highly motivated. There are no formal entry requirements for this programme but a good educational background will be necessary to successfully complete theoretical aspects of the course.

You will need to attend a Welcome Event for part-time courses at which you will complete a communication screener to ensure you have the appropriate educational skills to complete the programme. You will also need to complete a trade test to assess your suitability and dexterity skills. Applicants whose first language is not English may be required to provide evidence of their competence in the English language.

We want you to achieve to the very best of your ability at CRC. To make this happen we offer both learning and personal support by specialist staff tailored to meet your specific needs.

The programme is assessed throughout the year in a number of ways:
• By demonstrating your practical competence on your peers in the college salon and in case studies to a level required in employment. You may also be encouraged to work on family, friends and fee paying clients in the college salon.
• Answering oral questions as part of the practical assessment to demonstrate your treatment knowledge and understanding.
• Compiling a portfolio of work undertaken during the year.
• Answering written questions and assignments set by your tutor.
• On-line test for anatomy and physiology and under pining knowledge.

There will be an external verification day for practical aspects of the course. This may occur outside of the regular course hours.
You will be required to provide clients for assessment as the college cannot guarantee client availability. These clients will be required to pay the prices as advertised in the college training salons.
