Course programme

Course Content

This Full Time course covers all practical skills and theory to help you move into an apprenticeship or junior role in the electrical industry.

The units covered as focused on getting you ready for a career in the electrical industry, these range from Health & Safety to installation of wiring systems and enclosures:

  • Unit 201/501 Health and safety in the building industry
  • Unit 202 Principles of electrial science
  • Unit 203 Electrical installation technology
  • Unit 204 Installation of wiring systems and enclosures
  • Unit 210 Understanding how to communicate with others within building services

Method of Study

There will be a mixture of theory backed up by practical skills. The course input is split 50/50 between theory and practical activities which include a variety of wiring systems.

You will need to satisfy competence standards of Performance Criteria, Technology Theory and Associated Studies. A work placement carrying out electrical installation projects would be beneficial for one day a week if possible but is not essential.

Assessment will be in house and made up of assignments, practical assessments and on-line multiple choice tests.
