This diploma is delivered in the workplace and is assessed by a portfolio of evidence. Evidence to be collected will include: workplace observation, witness testimonies, professional discussion, questions and work products evidence. The assessor will also provide valuable skills training as well as assessment.

Who is the Diploma for?
Staff who deliver physical, emotional or enabling care to clients, in a variety of settings such as residential care, day centres, hospitals and in clients own homes.
This is a rolling programme. Subject to interview and an assessment.

Subjects Covered What does the Diploma cover? Depending on the nature of the service, learners will choose a pathway which relates to their workplace. There are three pathways; Generic, Dementia or Learning Disabilities. There are 9 ( credits) mandatory units: • Introduction to Communication in Health and Social care settings • Introduction to Personal Development in Health and Social care settings • Introduction to Equality and Inclusion in Health and Social care settings • Introduction to Duty of Care in Health and Social care settings • Principles of Safeguarding and Protection in Health and Social care • The Role of the Health and Social Care Worker • Implement Person-Centred approaches in Health and Social care • Contribute to Health and Safety in Health and Social care • Handle Information in Health and Social care settings Further context or specialist knowledge and optional units ( credits) will need to be completed to achieve the full award. This diploma replaces the previous Level 2 NVQ. On completion What are the benefits? As a nationally recognised qualification, based on the Health and Social Care National Occupational Standards which are approved by Skills for Care and Development, this qualification serves as the required qualification for registration and regulatory requirement in the social care sector. Increased skill level will also help your staff to use the latest and most effective working practices and meet the regulatory requirements.
