Paul has significant experience in the construction industry both on site and as a self employed carpenter. Paul has been an NVQ Assessor and Internal Verifier for a number of years and is very experienced in supporting candidates to gain their NVQ's.
Course programme
There are 6 units to be completed within this qualification.
The course is made up of 3 core (mandatory) units which you must complete :
VR01 Conform to General Workplace Safety
VR02 Conform to Efficient Work Practices
VR03 Move and Handle Resources
and 3 optional units which you must choose from :
VR09 Install 1st Fixing Components
VR10 Install 2nd Fixing Components
VR11 Erect Structural Carcassing Components
VR12 Maintain Non-structural Carpentry Work
VR13 Set Up and Use Circular Saws
Following induction, your qualified NVQ assessor will work with you to decide which optional units you can proove competence in according to the work you carry out on site.
You will be required to collect different types of evidence to proove competence. These can include recorded professional discussions with your assessor, photographs, videos, witness testimonies from your foreman or supervisor, and previous certificates. Your assessor will carry out observations of you in the workplace and help you compile an electronic portfolio which will be assessed and verified by us and the awarding body. Don't worry if your ICT skills are rusty! You don't need to access the system unless you want to!
