This course has two different study routes (dependant upon entrance criteria) Route 1, (Certificate)  will give you a broad background in Engineering Technology and will cover such areas as design, computer aided drafting and operation of lathes and milling machines. Route 2. (Diploma) will give learners knowledge and understanding of a broad range of engineering competencies.  The qualification covers the intermediate knowledge, understanding and skills that are required by someone working in the engineering industry.

It takes a hands-on approach to intermediate engineering training by providing learners with knowledge and understanding of a range of engineering competencies, information that will help them make more informed decisions about their career options, personal Skills to help them work effectively and achieve their potential

Course programme

After the course you can progress on the Level 2 Diploma or onto Level 3 in Engineering Technology.

You will need 2 GCSE at grade 3 (D) or above to include a Science subject.

In addition to the entry qualifications listed, the offer of a place on the course is subject to the outcomes of initial assessment, which will be taken at the College as part of the admissions process. Please note that entry criteria may vary quite significantly between courses at the same level. This is to take account of the specific skills needed for success on particular courses, the length of the course and the requirements for progression to the next level. Entry criteria are given as a guide, and the exact requirements in order to obtain a place on a particular course will be confirmed following attendance at a Welcome Event/Interview.
