Course Overview

This course is designed for people interested in developing knowledge, skills and understanding of the caring services.

This course includes the opportunity to undertake work experience which provides you with first-hand understanding of the workplace, giving you the chance to develop your skills and knowledge as well as enabling you to gain employment within health and social care contexts.

Topics covered on the course include: effective communication in health and social care; human development; health and social care values; the impact of nutrition; equality and diversity in health and social care; and social influences on health and well-being.

You will be taught in a classroom environment using a range of different formats including group work, IT and independent study. Support is provided for a wide range of academic and personal needs, ensuring you get the most out of your course and your time at the College.

Good English and maths skills are essential for success in studying and for future employment prospects and so Croydon College ensures that these skills are developed in all learning opportunities.

It’s also important to have good English and maths qualifications and so all students will study English and maths and work towards an appropriate level and type of qualification including GCSE. This will be part of all 16-18 year old students’ Study Programme alongside their main vocational or academic qualification and will be discussed with students at interview.
