Level 2: Security Guard Course is required if you want to obtain the SIA Security Guarding Licence which allows you to work in the private security industry as a security officer. A Security Officer can work in a wide variety of roles including static guarding, manned guarding, key holding etc.
To obtain this qualification linked to security guard licensing you will need to attend a 4 days training course and take and pass the exams. The course may be delivered over 3 Days (Minimum 20.5 hrs Class is required by SIA for this course- without completion of 20.5 hrs your certificate may be invalidated). or during weekends sessions. Unit 1: Working within the Private Security Industry
- Chapter 1: Know the main characteristics of the Private Security Industry
- Chapter 2: Understand legislation as it applies to the individual in carrying out a licensable activity
- Chapter 3: Understand the importance of safe working practices to comply with legal requirements
- Chapter 4: Understand fire procedures in the workplace
- Chapter 5: Understand emergencies and the importance of emergency procedures
- Chapter 6: Understand the importance of communication skills and customer care
Unit 2- Working as a Door Supervisor within the Private Security Industry
- Chapter 1: Understand the role and objectives of a door supervisor.
- Chapter 2: Understand civil and criminal law relevant to a door supervisor.
- Chapter 3: Understand searching relevant to a door supervisor.
- Chapter 4: Understand powers of arrest relevant to a door supervisor.
- Chapter 5: Understand drug-misuse issues and procedures relevant to the role of a door supervisor.
- Chapter 6: Understand incident recording and crime scene preservation relevant to the role of a door supervisor
- Chapter 7: Understand licensing law and social responsibility relevant to the role of a door supervisor.
- Chapter 8: Understand emergency procedures which should be followed by a door supervisor.
- Chapter 9: Understand how a door supervisor can help to keep vulnerable people safe.
- Chapter 10: Understand queue management and venue capacity responsibilities relevant to a door supervisor.
Unit 3 – Conflict Management within the Private Security Industry
- Chapter 1: Understand the principles of conflict management appropriate to their role
- Chapter 2: Understand how to recognise, assess and reduce risk in conflict situations
- Chapter 3: Understand how to communicate in emotive situations to de-escalate conflict
- Chapter 4: Understand how to develop and use problem solving strategies for resolving conflict
- Chapter 5: Understand good practice to follow after conflict situations
Course Assessment:
