How will I be assessed?Continual assessment throughout the course/Written assignments/Online tests/Practical assessments are undertaken on paying clients and must be completed in a commercially acceptable timescale/Portfolios of collated study evidence.
In addition to timetabled classes there is provision for independent study time. Students will undertake independent learning, investigation and research and bring this to present and share in subsequent classes.

Attendance
90% attendance is expected of all students, in readiness for the requirements of industry. Attendance is monitored throughout the programme of study and support will be offered to those whose attendance drops below this standard.

Kits and Uniforms
We have a strict dress code, in line with industry standards and a professional image is essential for this course. All students in the Hair and Beauty Academy must wear professional smart black top, smart black trousers and enclosed flat black shoes. You will also need to purchase the kit specified by the college from an allocated supplier.
Preparation and starting your course
Once you have received an offer of a place on the course, confirm your acceptance of the offer in writing as soon as possible. We will contact you during the summer with joining information and fees, if applicable.
Timetables and Time to Study
Your timetable is usually 2-3 days per week and will be confirmed at enrolment.
English and Maths
English and maths qualifications are vitally important for future employers and universities, so the government has made it a priority for students to improve these skills.
Entry Level / Level 1 and Level 2: We’re here to help you on your journey, so if you do not achieve grade A*-C in GCSE English and/or maths, then you will study English and/or maths as part of your college course.
Students who achieve a D grade will be placed on the relevant GCSE programme, while students who achieve an E or below will be assessed to ensure they are placed on the right study programme for their ability.
Level 3 programmes: You will need to meet the course entry requirements specified on the course information above. For the majority of our Level 3 courses, students will need grade A*-C in GCSE English and/or maths. If this is not specified in the course entry requirement, then you may be able to study English and/or maths as part of your college course.
