AS/AGCE CLASSICAL CIVILISATION (ANCIENT HISTORY)
This course is designed to offer you the opportunity to acquire the skills needed by a historian, through the study of Roman Britain and Sparta. Students are encouraged to study in depth the work of historians who shaped the Western tradition of the writing of history.
Length of Course
One year AS/two year AGCE
What qualifications will I need to study on the course?
You'll need at least 5 grades C at GCSE or equivalent.
What will I study?
The AS year will consider Roman Britain including Caesars expeditions, his views of Britain and Spartan society and politics. In your second year you will build further on your knowledge of Roman Britain and Ancient Greece. You will also have the opportunity to go out on various field trips - past visits have included Hadrian's wall, Rome and Pompeii.
Method of assessment
This course is 100% exam based.
What will I be able to progress to?
There are a number of progression areas, many of our students go on to study one of the many ancient history related degrees at University. The course also demonstrates to employers you're ability to communicate, solve problems and carry out independent research.
