Course Overview
You can choose between a one and two year course. After having successfully completed the one year course, which is equivalent to 1/1.5 A Levels, you can then progress on to the second year, which is equivalent to 3 A Levels.
This course is aimed at those students who will thrive on being challenged creatively as it will develop you skills in research, design development, pattern making, and garment construction. The second year of study building upon these and enabling you to grow as a designer, illustrator, pattern cutter, and machinist. You will receive weekly feedback from staff and peers, with more formal feedback given at the end of each project. This allows you to receive positive and constructive advice on your work throughout the project. You will also have a clear understanding of meeting deadlines and expectations.
You will have the opportunity to work in a creative and inclusive environment within our excellent facilities, including our purpose built fashion studios, and our excellent resources that will support your learning and develop you understanding of fashion design, print, and textiles. You will work and collaborate with our experienced staff who have the relevant skills and connections to the industry to help you achieve your potential.
Please note that the college will provide some materials and equipment whilst you study. However, there is an expectation of additional material costs of approximately £30 per term. Day trips to galleries and other places of interest usually cost between £25-30 within the year. You may be eligible for a bursary and this should cover the cost of equipment.
Good English and maths skills are essential for success in studying and for future employment prospects and so Croydon College ensures that these skills are developed in all learning opportunities.
