Religious Studies
AS/A2 Level - Two-year course
This course will appeal to students who are prepared to analyse, investigate and evaluate the fundamental beliefs and values of religion and society. It encourages the ability to express an informed and scholarly opinion on a range of issues.

Students will learn what key philosophers had to say on the issues studied and the criticisms surrounding them. The study modules focus on the Philosophy of Religion and Religious Ethics.

In year one (AS), students will study the Philosophy of Religion, beginning with Ancient Greeks and leading up to Medieval arguments for the existence of God as well as considering the various challenges to belief. Under Religious Ethics, students evaluate ethical theory and practice.

In year two (A2), under Philosophy of Religion, study includes topics such as â€-life after death†. Under Religious Ethics, topics include scholarly arguments on whether humans have â€-freedom†to choose how they behave, or are â€-predestined†to be the way they are.
