Level 3 Award in Education and Training- AET (Formally PTLLS) Ofqual Regulated Teaching Training Course

Level 3 Award in Education and Training (AET) is suitable if you work or want to work as a teacher/trainer/tutor in Further Education Colleges, adult and community education, the voluntary sector, commerce, industry, the public sector or HM forces.

The AET Award is a mandatory minimum qualification for all those teaching in the Learning and Skills Sector and replaces the old PTLLS qualification.

This course is suitable for those people wishing to gain a threshold teaching qualification in the sector or those who would like to try teaching for the first time.

Introduction to the course

If you are new to the lifelong learning sector and do not have any prior teaching experience or qualifications, the Award in Education and Training Level 3 – formerly known as PTLLS – will take your career forward.

The course covers:

Roles, responsibilities and relationships in lifelong learning
Understanding and using inclusive learning and teaching approaches to plan and deliver inclusive teaching sessions
Principles of assessment in the sector
It will also provide training in how to give constructive feedback to students.

This qualification was formerly known as PTLLS. The Award in Education and Training is a short course designed to enable a wide range of students to undertake teaching, training or learning tasks relevant to their own training or teaching situation. It is recommended for all teachers new to the sector, whether in further education, adult and community learning, work-based learning or other parts of the learning and skills sector. This is the qualification that will provide the first step on the ladder to becoming a qualified teacher. It is also the qualification that is required to sit alongside the Training, Assessment and Quality Assurance (TAQA) qualification
