Description

The Award in Mathematics for Numeracy teaching course is a self paced, online level 3 accredited qualification for those wishing to gain knowledge and personal skills in Mathematics or would like a formal qualification to demonstrate their current skills. The course can also be used for entry to specialist teaching qualifications or as evidence of a mathematics qualification when applying for QTLS.

There are three units:
- Using mathematics: academic subjects (6 credits)
- Using mathematics: personal and public life (6 credits)
- Using mathematics: professional and vocational contexts (6 credits)

For each unit, you will need to complete an assignment showing your ability to apply the correct mathematical methods and operations and analyse the results. Video presentations and course notes of the topics and mathematical operations that need to be used are provided on the Moodle. You will then be able to work through the course at times suitable for you, you will also be assigned a tutor to guide and support you through your qualification. All assignments are uploaded to the Moodle site, this is a straight forward process, but we also provide guides or you can call us for assistance if required.

· What are the objectives of this course?

The course aims to develop learners’ knowledge and personal skills in Maths as required for entry to specialist teaching qualifications. The qualification prepares learners to progress to further subject specific numeracy teacher education programmes. Learning outcomes: - Be able to interpret mathematical situations - Be able to process mathematical problems - Be able to analyse mathematical findings - Be able to use mathematical communications

· Who is it intended for?

Learners wishing to gain knowledge and personal skills in Maths, including those looking for entry to specialist teaching qualifications.

· Requirements

- At least 16 years old - Working at Level 2 in English and Mathematics - Basic ICT skills (the course is online using our Moodle site, the level of skill set is just basic Microsoft office and able to upload attachments)
