Course programme

Our Level 3 BTEC Advanced Certificate in Surveillance Practice, accredited by Edexcel, involves 120 hours of teaching in the following subject areas:

The laws governing the use and application of manned surveillance in the UK
Information gathering
Initial reconnaissance and conflict resolution
Foot and mobile surveillance practices
Creating rural observation posts
Creating urban observation posts
Using and deploying static/remote cameras
Methods of entry
Planning a surveillance operation
Night surveillance and filming in low light conditions.

Since surveillance is a practical subject we try not to subject students to ‘death by PowerPoint’. Lecture-based teaching is combined with a range of other techniques, including instructor demonstrations, student discussions and practical exercises in our simulation centre, urban environments and rural training facility. The course culminates in a two-day final operation exercise, which typically encompasses a large geographic area.

We also provide a violent assault workshop as part of the course, where ex-forces medics deliver training specifically geared to the threats and injuries most likely to be encountered by surveillance operatives.

Our two week course is charged at a set fee of £1700.00 plus VAT (total cost £1997.50). We are an approved supplier for Enhanced Learning Credits with a supplier number of ELC 2990. The course is non-residential and therefore does not include food or accommodation.
