This is an interesting and exciting course that will provide practical and theoretical training in the care, education and development of young children that provides access to a range of fascinating careers. This course will deliver a sound foundation of knowledge within the early year’s sector.
Over the course of this two year programme you will complete a range of assignments, a research project and a minimum of 750 hours in placement. Placement will be in at least three different settings and age ranges and will form the basis of a Practical Evidence Portfolio.

About this course
You will attend for two academic years, five days a week. Two days a week will consist of a work placement.

You will also need to be prepared to work very hard as the knowledge base required is equivalent to three A levels and professional status.
You will achieve a BTEC Level 3 National Diploma In Children’s Play Learning and Development which confers EYE status (‘licence to practise’) in England.
You will learn through a range of work placements, practical assessments, simulations, working in College, assignments, research task, and evidence based portfolio. You will also take a paper based exam based on case studies in the first year. Two of the assignments in the second year are marked externally.
