Course programme
Who is this course for?This is a Level 3 Course providing a BTEC Certificate in Counselling Skills. The aim of the programme is to help and assist people to develop advanced counselling skills and theory to prepare them for using counselling skills in different settings. It also prepares students to undertake higher level courses.
What qualifications or experience do I need ?A relevant Level 2 qualification in Counselling Skills. A standard of literacy and numeracy equivalent to GCSE at grades A to C.
What will I study ?You will be required to attend college one evening per week. You will study the following topics: * Developing Counselling Skills * Various theoretical Approaches in the use of Counselling Skills * Working Ethically with Counselling Skills * Counselling Skills and Diversity * Counselling Skills and Personal Development
How will I be assessed ?Each unit is assessed throughout the course. A combination of assessments are used such as small assignment work, reflective journal, practical assessment of skills during the course and some small group work. Please ensure you bring to your interview a handwritten personal statement of approx. 200 words about why you want to work in Health and Social Care
What qualifications could I achieve ?Counselling Skills Edexcel BTEC Level 3 Certificate.
How do I join the course ?Apply online or call and arrange an interview, alternatively you can come along to one of our Open Events. You will need to complete a literacy assessment with results showing at least level 2 literacy ability.
