Course programme

Course review:

The Energy Trust DEA training course allows you to become a Domestic Energy Assessor (DEA) where your role will be varied, as you inspect and measure homes, gathering information and inputting the data into the software which produces Energy Perfomance Certificates (EPC) for a wide range of residential properties.

What’s involved in DEA training?

This DEA training course is available to non experienced candidates who want to be involved in producing the mandatory energy performance certificates for houses which are either sold or rented.

DEA Training is your route to become qualified as a DEA in the quickest time possible. You will need to enrol on the level 3 DEA course in your chosen area.

We have many locations and course dates to choose from. During 5 day attendance you will learn all aspects of domestic energy assessment which includes surveying, building identification techniques, understanding RDSAP software which all energy assessors work with and learning to energy rate properties. All our courses include live house assessments to give you real hands on experience in preparation for your new career role.

RDSAP Software is included in the price.

Additional information

Domestic Energy Assessors (DEA's) are trained to collect information about existing domestic properties in order to generate an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC). DEA's collect data on the dimensions, construction, heating and hot water provision of the property, and enter the information into an approved software programme. This generates the EPC.  The EPC will show the energy performance on a scale A to G (A being most efficient and G is least efficient). We provide desktop and iPad versions of the Government-approved RdSAP 9.91 software & the EPR required for ECO surveys free of charge as part of the training program.  Using the software, collating and interpreting data and lodging an EPC to meet the required standards is straightforward and explained thoroughly on our training program.
